Legends Lane Sees Letch 3s Hosts Hitchin 2s (is this the return of the Wanderers?)

With Nikki & Frankie working hard behind the scenes the Hitchin cup game became the only fixture to fulfill.

With this being a 3s fixture it was over to Aidan to get the phone out and see what names he could add to those available on Spond.

So with a plethora of 2s players and some new names in the squad the fixture was ready - however some players turning up late and one manager turning up late gave it a bit too much of a relaxed feel.

Hitchin dominated the early exchanges at ruck time and were the first to get on the scoreboard in what felt like their first attack.

Letchworth responded with a try of their own but Hitchin notched up 2 more before the break.

It’s fair to say though letch were unable to convert their best chances either from marauding breaks from the retuning Ben Merrison or breaks from the make shift full back of Jacob Atkins.

The frustration from Frankie and Gav as advisors may have been in Aidan playing football with Sebastian on the touch line or the score.

The message from the coaches and indeed the likes of Wonky & Mash alongside captain Buchs was obviously very clear and well understood because the turnaround was emphatic.

With dominant carry’s from Shane Dimmock & the returning Omkar (I think it was him but he looked stronger and faster) with Paddy Allen’s time in the backs rested the appearance of Tyler Uys & Tom smith added zip to the teams play the pack and marauding pace of the backs really started to take effect.

The first try as a Married Man for Joe Hanchet supported trys from Conner Gage Tom Smith Jacob alongside try of the match from the great Mash Calver who with the ethervexcent youthful Mr Price ambassador Wonky and the full back come centre Jacob Atkins pushed hard for the MOTM as well as great tackles and support play from Aaron Vince the returning Mason Wiegland was strong in supporting the side stepping Conner turner and the great open and scrummaging play of Gage Harrington who’s supports came from the Isle of Wight to see the performance- though sadly Aidan still has a bit to learn when to do these presentations.

With tiredness kicking in Hitchin were able to get some late scores which made for a closer scoreline than the first half hour of the second half suggested would be the case.

Thanks to good tackles from Debutant Mo Lagher and great shuffling of positions thanks to the injury count mounting (great work Elena for HIA and hamstring treatment patience) - Letchworth secured the win 44-32
