Notice on behalf of the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation

The AMC are looking to recruit additional members to represent freeholder owners. The right candidate will have an interest in the built environment and a basic knowledge of how to understand building plans so as to be able to review applications for works where there is a dispute.

This is a voluntary role. The AMC meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday morning of the month. The role would require attendance at a meeting in Letchworth and the ability to attend site visits and meet with homeowners and their agents. A Chair is appointed at each meeting from within the Committee to report to the Householders Application Committee (HAC). The HAC is a sub-Committee of the Board of Trustees and attendance at this meeting may sometimes be required.

In line with the Housing Reform Act 1967, Letchworth Garden City requires homeowners to receive Landlord’s Consent for any external alterations that they wish to carry out. This is a separate process from planning. The Scheme of Management outlines key requirements of the Heritage Foundation but also of freehold homeowners. Inevitably, when applying for consent for works, there will be cases where Heritage and Stewardship team refuse the proposals.

Within the clauses of the Scheme of Management, the Heritage Foundation is tasked with administrating an Advisory Management Committee (AMC) which acts as a review body for disputes between the Foundation and Letchworth residents.

Each AMC meeting requires two members who are appointed by the Heritage Foundation and two local community representatives who are freehold owners.
