Letchworth Rugby Club is pleased to support and share an exciting opportunity from British Indian Rugby Development (BIRD), who are taking men’s and women’s teams from the UK and India to compete at the Goa 7s from 30th October to 1st November 2026.
There is already a strong connection between the initiative and Letchworth. One of BIRD's founders, Mick Johal, is a long-standing friend of the club and has been actively involved in rugby at Letchworth, having returned to the game at the age of 36. His commitment to grassroots sport also extends locally through founding the North Herts Crusaders, based in Hitchin, and Little Ruggers, which introduces children aged 2–7 to rugby through fun, early participation and development.
Last year, Letchworth players were also part of the men’s and women’s teams that travelled to India, making this an initiative with a very real connection to our own rugby community.
More than a rugby tour
Goa 7s 2026 will bring together seven men’s and seven women’s teams from the UK, alongside six men’s and six women’s teams from India.
The ambition is about more than the competition itself. The tour provides an opportunity for players and coaches to experience a UK–India sporting and cultural exchange, build new connections and help raise the standard and profile of rugby.

BIRD is now looking for businesses, organisations and individuals to get behind the 2026 tour, with a range of sponsorship opportunities available:

Playing Kit Partner – from £1,500
Polo / Teamwear Partner – from £1,000
Shorts Partner – from £750
Support a Player – £250+
General donations – any amount
Depending on the package, sponsors can benefit from brand exposure across playing kit, teamwear, tour communications, social media, photography, video and promotional material. Individuals can also support a player, contributing directly towards their travel, accommodation, food and participation.
For local businesses in particular, it’s a chance to support an initiative with strong links to Letchworth and North Hertfordshire while helping players access a fantastic international rugby experience.
