Funds raised for Garden House Hospice Skyrockets to nearly £25,000!
Letchworth Rugby Club pulled off a dazzling display of community spirit and generosity on the evening of Friday, November 3rd, as Legends Lane hosted its first Firework Spooktacular. Conceived by our innovative Chairman, Chris Lunnon, this event wasn't just a spectacle in the sky but a beacon of support for a vital cause raising nearly £25,000 for the Garden House Hospice.
With a staggering attendance of 3500, the professionally choreographed fireworks display illuminated the night for almost thirty minutes. The sky over Legends Lane became a canvas painted with bursts of vibrant colors, perfectly synced to an eclectic playlist featuring classics like "Bad Moon Rising," "Bat out of Hell," "Monster Mash," and "The Addams Family." The combination of breathtaking visuals and musical accompaniment delighted attendees of all ages.
Adding to the carnival atmosphere were fairground rides, and hot food and drink stands that not only added to the festivities but also contributed to the impressive fundraising total. Fundraising Coordinator at the Garden House Hospice, Claire Lunnon, expressed her delight at the community's efforts "We are thrilled by the generosity of our local rugby club. While this sum is incredible, it's essential to remember that we need to raise £9,700 every day to offer our care free of charge. We're motivated to continue these efforts for our North Herts Community."
Club President Brian Burke extended his gratitude to the volunteers from both the club and the hospice who ensured the event's success. "I’d like to thank all the volunteers from the Club and Hospice who marshalled the event and made sure it went off with a real bang… if you ll excuse the pun! It’s great to put back something substantial into such a worthwhile charity."
