Despite the interruption of COVID-19 there has been plenty of work going on to secure the future growth and success of our senior squad for the coming season ... whenever that starts.  Following the departure of Dave Hynard the committee, along with Graham ‘Boss’ Walker and Jaggy Johal, realised that now is the time to really grasp the nettle and steer our club on an upward path given the abundance of young talent available, from last years under 16s to the lads who played in the two senior sides last season at the tender ages of 17 & 18. Thanks to the efforts of Boss and Jaggy we have secured the services of former Hertford senior coach Baz Bazra. This is an enormous coup for the club and no doubt will galvanise our playing membership ... if not I don’t know what will!  This is the first of several announcements so keep fit, stay safe and watch this space!!!  Now I’ll let Baz introduce himself in his own words.

Cheers

2015-2017-Hertford RFC-Forwards coach

2017-2020-Hertford RFC-Head Coach-Finished 3rd, 4th and 4th in National Three.

It was my decision to step down as Head Coach at Hertford RFC and it was not a decision I took lightly.  My contract was renewed for the forthcoming season but with the new restructuring at Hoe Lane I felt it was time to step away and look at new challenges or have a season watching a few games and supporting my son who is in the 1st XV at Hertford.

After a few clubs ringing in the interim I am really happy to have accepted the offer from Letchworth RFC.  I know the area well as I was born in Hitchin and went to school at Hillshott up till the age of 10.  I have known Graham "Boss" Walker through County Rugby and also played with and against Jag.  Jimmy Tirrell also coached with me at Hertford for a couple of seasons.  Mark Freeman (r.i.p) was a good friend of mine and I have known a few players from Letchworth over the years, including Hughsey and Mr Spillane.

Looking forward to meeting you all and most of all I am excited about the prospect of developing a young squad and see where we can take them.

Thanks

Baz
