Dear Club members & supporters
As you are well aware there will be no rugby now until next season ... September at the earliest. The country is in the grip of an unprecedented crisis and we all need to help in a small way.
As a club we have offered our services to local coronavirus support groups as we have many members aged 16 and over who will be able to volunteer and do certain small things to ease the burden of those who are really at risk from this virus.
In the next week or so this will involve delivering leaflets on behalf of the local support groups, and then later on will involve things such as shopping and collecting prescriptions for those who cannot leave their homes. Also to become a phone pal for older people who are on their own and suffering from loneliness over this period.
If you feel you can help then please email Rick Sell at richardsell100@gmail.com to be registered as a volunteer, and your contact details will be passed on to the local support groups in Baldock and Letchworth. As the crisis deepens you may receive a call from one of the support groups asking for help.
Rugby football and their players & members have always been at the forefront in the event of a national crisis such as the First World War and the Second World War 20 years later. Just look on the club remembrance board for this fact - nearly twenty club members are on it.
I am confident that we will be no different from our forebears and we shall all pull together and get through this in the next few months.
With all best wishes
Brian Burke
