Maybe like me you awoke this morning with a tear in your eye, not quite believing that yesterday had come.

There are only a few in our club family who will remember anyone other than Queen Elizabeth as head of the state … step forward Boof! When she came to the throne in 1952 we were the sole rugby club in North Herts and I am happy to report after 70 years of her great reign we are still top of the rugby pile in this area, and very much the rugby family that our founders envisaged nearly 100 years ago when we were set up and played on a cow pat pitch just off Pixmore Way.

Under the great rule of Queen Elizabeth our club like the nation has enjoyed a period of great peace, prosperity and growth and I am sure I speak for all of us, whatever their political or even monarchical leanings, that we owe this great lady a massive debt of gratitude.

Our first game of the season at home to Brentwood is scheduled to go ahead at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. I would urge as many members of the club from 9 months to 90 to gather on the touchline at five to 3 so we can mark this lady’s passing in the appropriate fashion with a minutes silence and then a period of applause to honour this historical occasion.

Ofcourse wear black but also the amber so we can give a true Legend the send off she deserves from North Herts senior club.

Thank you
