Good evening everyone.

Today I was delighted to be present as our under 16s demolished Barnet Elizabethans in the semi-final of the county cup by 58 points to 10. It was a game of vigour, heart and fast flowing open rugby which makes all the volunteers efforts worthwhile.

Unfortunately this could be the last rugby seen at Legends Lane for some time, although we are still hoping that the Hemel game for our first team will be on next Saturday.  But please note we have taken the decision to postpone the lunch beforehand in deference to the virus that is taking hold in our green and pleasant land.  The lunch was to be in honour of those two great stalwarts Des Moore and Tony French, and realistically it will now take place at the beginning of next season.

This week we also say goodbye to another two great club supporters Jim Evans and Roy Dearn, the latter a colourful chairman of the club in the 80s. Times and personnel may change but the club always goes on and forwards whoever is at the helm.

Having been involved with the club for the last 50 years I have never encountered anything quite like this. At some stage certain things even transcend our great game and this is one of them.

The club will of course adhere to the guidelines laid down by RFU and government and if we have to bring the curtain down on this season then so be it we go again in September.

I would just like to wish all the brothers and sisters in our Letchworth rugby family all the best in the months ahead.

Be you eight or eighty stay safe and we shall all get through this tough few months and then continue to build on the foundations and follow the dreams of this great club .... YOUR club!

All the best in rugby
